Den’s Country Meats is a family-owned business and operated as a USDA inspected meat locker located in the heart of the Midwest. With deep family values, Den’s Country Meats has provided quality meat products to its customers for 40 years. Our local store provides a processing plant serving our customers with custom processed meat, award winning sausages, and fresh retail cuts.
Den’s Country Meats has two generations working in the business. Dennis and Kim Schaardt are involved in the day-to-day production as well as their daughter, Courtney and her husband Seth.
Why support our business? We work hard every day to provide quality products for you. Each recipe has been handcrafted with you in mind to provide rich and bold flavors that satisfy your taste. We only source quality meat from the best animals to have top-notch products for our customers.
Why support small lockers? A strong local meat sector means a more resilient supply chain, more options for local farmers, and better access to local products. Small meat lockers are an important part of a small-town economy and provide good-paying jobs. Small meat processors have a positive multiplier effect on the local economy.
What does USDA inspected mean? The Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA) requires that all meat sold commercially be inspected and passed to ensure that it is safe, wholesome, and properly labeled. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is responsible for providing this inspection. The FMIA requires inspection for any product intended for human consumption, wholly or in part, from the carcass or parts of any cattle, sheep, swine, and goat. These animals, defined as “livestock” in the regulations, must be slaughtered and processed under Federal inspection, and the meat food products must be inspected and passed for human consumption.
Den’s Country Meats is a proud member of the Nebraska Association of Meat Processors and American Association of Meat Processors.
